Bio

Maritza Gamboa hails from Laredo, Texas but she was raised in Lubbock, Texas since the age of five years old.

She is also actively involved in the Lubbock community with the South Plains Food Bank Kids Café Program where for the last 6 years she has coached and prepared kids to finish a one-mile fun run at the Lubbock Arts Festival. She also helps with the Toys for Tots, Race for the Cure, Hispanic Association of Women to provide college scholarships for deserving women.

Education

Maritza graduated from Frenship High School and then went on to attend Texas Tech University. While at TTU, she was chosen to participate in the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program due to being a first-generation college student. Within this program, she presented a historical presentation on South Africa’s Apartheid at a National Conference, which earned her many scholarships. After graduating in 2000 from TTU with a double major in History and Spanish, she became a Youth Counselor working with troubled youth in Lubbock and Hockley County before beginning her law career.

Legal Background

Maritza received her Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary’s University Law School in San Antonio, Texas in 2005. During her time in law school, she studied Mexican Civil Law at the Universidad de Guanajuato and worked as a student attorney in the immigration clinic.

She obtained extensive trial experience prior to opening her law practice in Lubbock 2011. She spent time practicing in Killeen that focused extensively on criminal and family law with active military soldiers.
